CITY OF MADISON TO ROLL OUT NEW GARBAGE COLLECTION CONTAINERS
Madison, Indiana (September 19, 2024) – The City of Madison is excited to announce that new garbage collection containers will begin arriving on Monday, September 23, 2024. Deployment will begin immediately, and the city intends to have all containers delivered by Saturday, September 28, 2024.
The rollout will start in the downtown area, and containers will be delivered to the front of each property to ensure they match the correct address. Trash collection will continue as usual. Residents are reminded to place their new containers in areas where they won't be blocked by parked cars. Please remember that all trash must be bagged and placed inside the container, and for faster service, position the handle toward the road.
If the container size you receive does not meet your needs, contact the City Street Department as soon as possible to check for size availability. Call 812-265-8304 or email streetsec@madison-in.gov.
Additionally, starting the week of October 7, 2024, if you wish to dispose of your old garbage container, ensure it is empty, turn it upside down, and place it at your trash collection location. The city will make rounds to collect them.
There will be no changes to the city’s recycling program, and current recycling containers can continue to be used as usual.
"The City of Madison is dedicated to maintaining a clean, safe, and beautiful environment. The new garbage collection containers are part of this ongoing effort to improve the quality of life for all residents while ensuring our city staff remains safe. We appreciate everyone's cooperation as we embrace this change to our collection service," said Madison's Mayor Bob Courtney.
