Sunrise Falls Golf Course Offers First Tee Program
Madison, Indiana (June 2, 2022) – Sunrise Falls Golf Course announced the start a of local chapter of the First Tee Program, offering golf lessons for children.
The First Tee program was developed by PGA of America to foster positive youth development through the game of golf. Dedicated to providing a safe place for youth, the program uses golf to teach life skills that participants can utilize far beyond the golf greens.
“Sunrise Falls PGA professional, Roger Gallatin, is dedicated to revitalizing the youth golf program and First Tee is the best way to approach it. The emphasis on not only the fundamentals and etiquette of golf, but also on character development and self-empowerment is what helps young golfers excel in this program, and we are proud of the direction Roger is heading,” said Parks Director Matt Woolard.
The program will offer lessons for ages 7 - 9, 10 - 11, and 12 years of age and older. Lessons will be divided into two session periods, running for three weeks, with lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Session one will run through June, and session two will run through July.
Each coach involved with the program must complete an online SafeSport training class and undergo a background check before assuming duties. Additionally, local high school golfers will assist in training during lessons.
Registration for participants is $75 per session. This fee includes 6 hours of instruction on a 6-to-1 student to coach ratio. Registration can be completed online at firstteeindiana.org or on-site in the Sunrise Pro Shop. Any questions may be sent to Class A PGA professional Roger D. Gallatin by email at roger.gallatin@pga.com or by phone at 812-265-8334.
