NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE 2026-2 VACATING CERTAIN STREET AND ALLEY EASEMENTS
Notice is hereby given that the Common Council will hold a public hearing at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, in the City Hall Council Chamber located at 101 W. Main Street, Madison IN 47250, to consider the first reading of Ordinance 2026-2 for potential adoption of a request by Madison Consolidated Schools (MCS) to vacate one street and two alley easements in accordance with Indiana Code 36-7-3-12.
The easements subject to vacation are on the south side of the former E.O. Muncie Elementary School located at 800 Lanier Drive, and all adjacent parcels to the easements are owned by MCS. The Board of Public Works sent the request to the Common Council with a positive recommendation during its February 2, 2026 meeting.
The hearing is open to the public, and the public is invited to provide comments, objections, or support at the public hearing.
The complete text of the proposed Ordinance 2026-2, along with attached exhibits, is on file and available for examination and copying at the office of the Clerk-Treasurer at the City Hall, 1010 West Main Street, Madison, Indiana 47250, during regular business hours, and will be available at the public hearing.
