Community Relations
The Community Relations Director position is appointed by the mayor and frequently serves as an outreach liaison for the community. The director helps facilitate communication among different organizations and businesses, as well as between the city and its citizens. The Director of Community Relations also operates as a liaison between the city and Madison’s many festivals, committees, non-profits, and other organizations such as Hanover College and Ivy Tech.
What are we responsible for?
This position is also responsible for the planning of city events such as Movies in the Park, the 4th of July Firework Show and Parade, the Halloween Festival, Light Up Madison, and the Very Merry Madison Christmas Parade.
It is the responsibility of this office to make sure information is relayed to the residents of Madison through press releases, website updates, and by keeping social media platforms up to date.
Mission:
Madison has a history full of memorable events and festivals that make up our culture today. Hosting a plethora of events each season from the Regatta and Movies in the Park in the summer, our annual Halloween Festival in the fall, and the Very Merry Christmas Parade each winter, no matter what time of year you visit Madison there is always something happening just around the corner. This is one of the things that makes our city so great, and the goal of our office is to continue this legacy and usher in fresh life to these events that bring our community together.
