Christmas in Madison
The City Madison is dreaming of a white Christmas, and we need your help making Madison Merry and bright. Please consider donating to our Christmas lights campaign. The city will be investing in skylines and wreaths, which will stretch from Cragmont to Walnut Street. The image depicts our goals for the entire community to get a sentimental feeling when they see everything we have planned for this year's holiday season. All donor names will be displayed outside City Hall for the entire holiday season. Donations can be mailed to City Hall, 101 W. Main St., Madison, IN 47250. Donations can also be made via Paypal.
Santa Claus will be visiting Madison again this year. Santa’s cottage will be placed at the Comfort Station as in years past, but children will not be able to enter the cottage. Instead, Santa will remain indoors working in his shop while children and families visit from a safe distance outdoors. If you did not feel comfortable bringing your child out to see Santa, we would be happy to schedule a call. Please email us at email@example.com to make arrangements.
Santa's Schedule is as Follows:
Saturday, November 28th 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
December 5th 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
December 11th 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
December 12th 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
December 18th 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
December 19th 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Beginning, Tuesday, December 1st, a Letters to Santa mailbox will be placed outside City Hall. Kids can drop off their letters to Santa until December 16th at 3:30 p.m. These letters will be hand delivered to Santa every Saturday. Santa will read letters live on the city Facebook page at 4:00 p.m. on December 5th, December 12th, and December 19th. Please note that not all letters will be read live due to time constraints. All letters with a return address will receive a note from Santa.
Light Up Madison
The community typically joins the mayor and Santa Claus at the Broadway Fountain as the city officially recognize the start of the holiday season in Madison, however, this years event has been canceled. Downtown Madison's Holiday Lights will still be illuminated on Friday, November 27, 2020 at an undisclosed time. The lights at the Broadway Fountain have been sponsored by Nucor Tubular Products.
Holiday Decorating Contest
Beginning December 1st, families and visitors can also enjoy holiday lights across the community from the safety of their car. The city has partnered with Visit Madison Inc. and the Madison Main Street Program to host a residential holiday decorating contest for all Jefferson County residents. Those wishing to participate in the contest must register by November 27th and have their homes decorated by December 1st. Winners will receive $200 in Chamber Cash. A Very Merry Madison Christmas Parade
We are disappointed to announce the 2020 City of Madison "A Very Merry Madison Christmas Parade" is canceled. Each year the streets are filled with large helium balloons, book characters and mascots, and festive floats that make their way down Main Street bringing holiday joy to all those who attend. We look forward to all the parade has to offer in 2021.
