Madison Community Relations
The Director of Community Relations first and foremost acts as the city's liaison to Madison's many festivals, committees, non-profits, and other organizations such as Hanover College and Ivy Tech. He also spearheads various efforts devoted to community development and improvement, including writing grants. Andrew led the City of Madison's pursuit and designation as an Indiana Stellar Community in 2017 and as a finalist in the America's Best Communities Competition in 2017.
Andrew Forrester oversees numerous events and activities done for the community each year, including the summer Movies in the Park, 4th of July/Regatta Parade, Red White & BOO, A Very Merry Madison Christmas Parade, and more. Other various issues pertaining to quality of life, housing, workforce development, recreation improvements, tourism, and industrial/economic development fall under his knowledge and coordination.
In addition to his formal education (BA, Wabash College 2011 & MBA, Indiana Wesleyan University 2015), Andrew has completed the Economic Development Course and Community Development Course through Ball State University.
The Community Relations director helps facilitate communication among different organizations and businesses, as well as between the city and its citizens. He also works to help citizens know what is going on; what events, programs, and services are available; and what upcoming projects are being planned or discussed. It is the responsibility of this office to make sure that these messages get out to the community in many different ways. One of these ways includes social media.
The city's efforts for social media outreach including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. This position is appointed by the Mayor and frequently serves as an outreach liaison from the Mayor's office.
