  3. Indiana Humanities Grants Workshop

    In 2019, Indiana Humanities is introducing an updated and enhanced grants program, with more opportunities for rapid-response funding and with larger grants to support innovative and collaborative programs. The goal for the new and revised offerings is to provide flexible and dynamic grants that encourage and inspire nonprofits across the state to create engaging and impactful public humanities programs for their communities. In this 90-minute session, director of grants, George Hanlin, will introduce you to Indiana Humanities, highlight the 2019 grants and the types of activities that will be funded, and offer tips on how to write a successful grant proposal. He will also share information about other grant makers across the state and allow time for you to ask questions and discuss your ideas.

  6. Bicentennial Speaker Series: Dr. Xiaolong Wu

    December 13, 2018, 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM @ Madison Public Library

    Professor Wu will give a brief history of traditional Chinese art by highlighting a few characteristic and long-lasting artistic traditions in China, including topics such as ceramics, jade, and bronze as the ancient roots of Chinese art, mortuary art and the quest for immortality, and the arts of the brush: painting and calligraphy. Xiaolong Wu (Ph.D., University of Pittsburgh), Associate Professor of art and art history at Hanover College, specializes in Asian Art History, with a focus on the art and archaeology of China and the art of Japan. His recent publications include Material Culture, Power, and Identity in Ancient China (Cambridge University Press, 2017). The Bicentennial Speaker Series presents experts speaking about timely topics on Thursdays.
