Construction that costs over $500 needs a building permit. Permits are required for the following types of construction: additions, new buildings, decks, relocation of structures, site development, and swimming pools.

1. Where is City Hall and what are the office hours?

City Hall is located at 101 West Main Street, Madison, IN 47250. It is located on the southwest corner of Main and West streets in Madison's Historic District. There is on-street parking on Main and West, and limited visitor parking behind the City Hall on West Street.

Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
