Madison Treatment Plant Wins State Award

On November 29th, 2017 the City of Madison’s Water Pollution Control Facility was awarded the Class III Plant of the year. This award is given to the very best Class III Wastewater Department in the Southern part of Indiana. This area ranges from Indianapolis, Indiana to the Ohio River. This is Madisons fourth win and third in the last five years, with previous awards won in 2009, 2013, and 2014. During 2015 and 2016, the plant has been under construction.

This award was given by the Southern Indiana Operators Association. The SIOA was established in 1972 in order to provide continuing educational and professional opportunities to water treatment operators, lab technicians, supervisors, engineers, and sales representatives.

-Safety: Personal protective equipment, first aid, eye wash and emergency showers, training on
lock out tag out, Confined Space, etc.

-Overall Plant operation: Removal Rates, cleanliness of final effluent, plant and grounds.

-Personnel knowledge: of plant operations, maintenance and safety.

-Overall plant improvements in the past year and overall cleanliness of the Facility.
