Continuing a yearly tradition, the City will be having FREE “Mayor’s Movie in the Park” events throughout this summer at Bicentennial Park. Thanks to over 400 people who voted online, this year’s movies were chosen entirely through public participation. This summer, the City of Madison will be showing the movies “Cars” on May 26th as part of the RiverRun Car Show, “Madison” on June 27th as part of the Regatta Festival Week, “Moana” on July 29th, “Grease” on August 12th, “Beauty and the Beast (2016)” on September 22nd as part of the 5 to the 5 Race Weekend, and “SING” on October 6th as part of a community celebration for the Friends of Hargan-Matthews Park.

Movies are expected to begin at dusk, which will be approximately 9PM although during summer months dusk is closer to 9:30PM. All movies will be shown at Bicentennial Park. Residents are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and arrive early to get the best spot. If rain/storms are threatening the movie, check for the most up to date information about the movie being rescheduled or moved indoors.

“This is always one of my favorite parts of the summer. Watching movies outdoors is always fun and attendance has grown over the last six years. We’re grateful to our sponsors for ensuring that we can offer these movies to the public again for free this year and I hope everyone will take time to thank them,” said Andrew Forrester, City of Madison Community Relations Director.

During most movies, snacks will be available for purchase from local businesses and nonprofit organizations, but the community is welcome to bring snacks from home to enjoy. We do ask that in order to maintain an enjoyable environment for all in the park that there is no smoking or alcoholic beverages during the movies.

All movies will be FREE to attend thanks to our generous sponsors. These movies were made possible through the title sponsorship of Sedam Contracting. We are also appreciative of supporting sponsors North Madison Christian Church, Madison Precision Products, Pilot Club, and Commonwealth Engineers Inc.
