Police Department
The Madison Police Department employs 27 police officers, six civilian dispatchers, 2 secretaries, and an animal control officer. The department also fields bicycle patrols for civic events and conducts the D.A.R.E. program in local schools. Police protection and law enforcement are provided 24/7 365 days a year.
The radio room is a nest of activity, with dispatchers serving as 911 operators, and broadcasting weather and other emergency notification, as well as fielding routine calls to the department.
